Cafe Ali sits right on Turtle Beach, Karachi, with its dining deck and roof structure built almost entirely in timber to take full advantage of the sea view and the sound of the waves. BB Timber was brought in to handle the structural framing, decking and supporting posts for the build.
Working this close to the coast meant choosing timber that could hold up against salt air and constant humidity, without losing the warm, natural look the client wanted for the space. The roof framing was built up in stages — beams first, then the joists and decking boards — so the structure stayed solid even as the design was finalised on site.
The result is an open-air pergola-style roof and deck that lets guests eat with an unobstructed view of the beach, while the exposed timber ceiling gives the whole space a warm, cabin-like feel rather than a typical concrete restaurant fit-out.
